Alien Ant Farm formed in 1996 in Riverside, CA when four friends (Dryden Mitchell, Terry Corso, Tye Zamora and Mike Cosgrove) who were then involved in other bands decided to get together and strike out on their own.. After three years of hard work on the California club circuit they released a self - produced debut album, Greatest Hits, which won them Best Independent Album at the annual L.A. Music Awards. Their friends and fellow Californians Papa Roach brought AAF to the attention of their label, the Dreamworks - distributed New Noize Records, who signed them and released their major label debut, ANThology, in 2001.
